Guild Member Certified in Pet First Aid

The Pet Professional Guild, a professional pet industry member-association that advocates for force-free dog training and pet care, announced today that Francis Cleofas of Cleofas Dog Training Center has been awarded the PPG’s Pet First Aid certification.

MANILA, October 09, 2012 – The Pet Professional Guild (PPG), a member organization founded on the principles of  force-free training and pet care, proudly announced today that FRANCIS CLEOFAS from Cleofas Dog Training Center has been awarded the PPG’s Pet First Aid certificate of competence.

According to PPG President, Niki Tudge, “Having Pet First Aid Skills is fundamental to our industry and to the PPG’s guiding principles.  Everyone can benefit from learning some basic first aid and earning this certificate of competence not only demonstrates the member’s skill and knowledge but also shows a commitment to the pet industry profession.  Our new program is very comprehensive requiring the PPG member to pass a rigorous knowledge and practical examination in order to earn the certification.”   The American Red Cross and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommend that all pet caregivers learn pet first aid skills to help keep animals safe and healthy.  Pet owners and professionals that are trained in pet first aid measures and proper life saving techniques are better prepared to handle routine and life threatening emergencies when they occur.

Tudge says, “Our PPG First Aid Program has been developed by a Certified Veterinary Technician in accordance with American Veterinary Medical Association’s guidelines and teaches the basic skills and procedures that may possibly save a pet’s life by providing the knowledge to administer basic treatment to a sick or injured animal until professional veterinarian help is available.”

The PPG plans to offer more such programs based on their “force-free” philosophy of pet training and pet care.  Tudge says, “As pet ownership continues to increase and the number of activities that owners enjoy with their pets grow, knowing basic first aid skills is essential for industry professionals.  We believe that the pet-owning public needs trusted educational resources based on the PPG’s guiding principles.  We clearly define our philosophy, methods and techniques our members use so the public can be confident that any Guild member will provide services in accordance with our stated philosophy and guidelines.  The public can be assured that only force-free methods will be employed training and caring for their pets.”  For more information on PPG courses and force-free training and pet care, visit www.PetProfessionalGuild.com.
